Top Tips to Make Working from Home More Productive

Remote work in 2020 shifted from a growing trend to the new normal. With the COVID-19 pandemic spreading across the world, the need for social distancing forced professionals in most industries to work from home. As a sales professional, this may have been a difficult transition for you. After all, living with family members or roommates doesn’t create an ideal work environment. To make working remotely as a sales professional more doable, follow these tips.

Tip #1: Design Your Office Space

Create an office space that maximizes your productivity. Maintaining a dedicated space lets you separate your work life from your personal life. This makes it easier for your brain to move into work mode. Be sure to fill your office space with books, a plant, photos, or other things that motivate you. Also, post your targets, a sales target leader board, and motivational quotes on the wall. Keep your space clean and uncluttered to lessen distractions.

Tip #2: Organize Your Technology

You need the proper technology to sell remotely. This includes a fast internet connection that supports your work activities. You also need a phone plan appropriate for your needs, which may include international calling. With your lead generation technology, email automation, electronic signature software, and CRM solutions, you must have video conferencing software to talk with prospects and customers.

Tip #3: Set Rules

If you share your home with family or roommates, let them know the rules about letting you work. They must understand you have a job to do and need their support. Talk about being quiet during work hours and not interrupting you.

Tip #4: Plan Your Day

Work the same hours every day to maintain consistency. Write down what you need to do and accomplish each day. Break down every hour and activity, so you spend your time well. Although you will face distractions, you are more likely to reach your objectives.

Tip #5: Maintain Communications

Since working remotely can feel isolating, be sure you keep in touch with your managers and colleagues throughout the day. Keep your managers informed about what you are working on and achieving. Ask your colleagues questions and provide support. Use chat channels like Slack for casual conversations about what’s going on in your and your coworkers’ lives.

Tip #6: Take Regular Breaks

Because your brain needs rest to remain productive, take regular breaks throughout the day. Whether you take 5, 15, or 60 minutes for yourself, engage in a relaxing activity to take your mind off work. Go for a walk, eat a healthy snack, or read a book. Meditate, text a friend or listen to a podcast. You will come back refreshed and ready to sell again.
